Framer vs Webflow

September 12, 2025
Framer ($161M)
Framer
Framer is a website design platform that empowers users to design, publish, and manage custom websites using a visual editing canvas.
Webflow ($334.9M)
Webflow
Webflow allows the user to design, build, and launch responsive websites visually, while writing clean, semantic code.

Framer and Webflow are both visual website builders that can be used without the need to write code and draw designs. They provide an online CMS and generate clean HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Both services are aimed more at marketers than developers. Both services have paid plans for teams and enterprises and free or basic tiers for private users.

But Framer (founded in 2014) is a Dutch service (but also with an office in San Francisco), more focused on designers. It offers a free "canvas" surface where it is easy to create animations, import designs from Figma, apply stylesheets. It also supports built-in tools for A/B testing, analytics, security tools, real-time collaboration.

Webflow (2013) is an American comprehensive SaaS website builder with a visual editor that automatically generates responsive pages and supports flex and grid frameworks. It's more complex tool, but more powerful and flexible, especially for complex websites and e-commerce stores. Therefore, the service offers its own learning ecosystem - Webflow University, which includes forum, marketplace, integrations, video lessons and templates. The service is actively implementing AI assistants and personalization.
