Mindbody vs Vagaro

October 17, 2025
Mindbody ($614.5M)
Mindbody
MINDBODY is a studio management software for yoga, pilates, personal training, dance, martial arts, spas and salons.
Vagaro ($163M)
Vagaro
Vagaro is an online platform that allows its users to find salons and spas in their local area and make appointments online.

Mindbody and Vagaro are both cloud-based services for salons, studios and fitness centers. They include online booking, calendar scheduling, client databases, marketing tools (newsletters, SMS notifications), payment management and integration with payment providers. Both provide separate mobile apps for business and clients. Although both companies are American, they operate internationally and have many clients outside the US.

But Mindbody (founded in 2001) positions itself as all-in-one suite (without the need to purchase multiple add-ons) that is better suited for businesses planning growth and want to avoid the hassle of "migrating to a new system" as they scale. However, the interface and setup can be more complex for beginners due to the large number of options. It even has its own marketplace where clients can search for businesses and book appointments through the platform.

Vagaro (2009) is more focused on small business. The service has a modular structure that allows to save on unwanted features. Many modules (such as a branded app, check-in, marketing and integrations) are available for an additional fee. The app supports contractor/tenant management, rent fee collection and revenue sharing and is also actively developing its POS hardware. Its interface is simpler and calendar synchronization and reminders are reliable and intuitive.
