Smartsheet ($3.4B)
Smartsheet
Smartsheet develops cloud-based work management platform that empowers collaboration, drives better decision making, and accelerates innovation.
monday.com ($384.1M)
monday.com
monday.com is a tool that transforms the way teams work together and helps teams build a culture of transparency.

Smartsheet and monday.com are both cloud-based services for managing projects, tasks and workflows. They allow you to create task lists, projects (and project templates), calendard, kanban boards, Gantt charts. Both provide the ability to automate task creation, alerts and notifications, integrate with external apps (e.g. Slack, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, etc.). They are both available as web applications and mobile apps.

But Smartsheet (founded in 2005) is a more old-fashioned service and its interface resembles a spreadsheet. It has more advanced functionality for complex data processing, forms with conditional logic, project portfolio management, better security and compliance capabilities (e.g. GDPR, etc.). However, due to its richer functionality and flexibility, it takes more time to learn and configure the service.

monday.com (2012) is an Israeli service - more focused on simplicity and small business. Its interface is more intuitive and convenient for a quick start. Monday has decent workflow visualization capabilities, clear dashboards and can display tasks in various formats (list, table, Gantt chart, Kanban). Unlike Smartsheet, the free plan is quite functional and suitable for small teams.
